Meet the Instructor: Mike Pelitera: Video Producer / Educator     Knowing how to work the technical side of things made being on the creative side more exciting for Michael Pelitera. Armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York.  Michael began his professional career as a studio cameraman and audio board operator for WUTR TV20, an ABC affiliate, and then jumped to the competition at WKTV Ch2, the NBC affiliate; both stations located in his home town of Utica, NY.

Eventually landing in Fort Pierce Florida, Mike worked at WTVX Ch. 34, at the time, the CBS affiliate for the Treasure Coast. With technical skills well-tuned, Mike’s creative writing and producing career skills heated up, winning several Addy Awards at both local and state levels of competition, which successes led Mike to WPTV, Channel 5 (the current NBC Affiliate).

Seeing a niche market in a new and exciting field of video production, Pelitera left WPTV to own and operate his own multi-media production business a little closer to home. He called it Aesop Video Productions, (Where Stories Begin). Successful endeavors brought great clients such as Indian River State College, where he eventually accepted a position in the growing department of Distance Learning. Today, Michael is the lead Instructional Technology Trainer in the Virtual Campus, which is technically the largest ‘campus’ of the institution. He leads the charge of IRSC to promote effective best practices for online learning strategies for both students and Instructors. Michael has earned a Masters’ degree in Educational Technology, and is currently working on his Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, with emphasis on, you guessed it….Online Learning!
